The calibration of stamping presses requires
very linear and rugged load cells.
This features can be found in compression load cells. The design is very
simple: a steel cylinder is compressed by the load applied.
As long as the steel is within the Hook’s straight, then the signal
is also as linear as the steel – there is no better linearity possible!
The typical linearity is 0.2% without special tricks.
--> Do it yourself Load Cells
Build your own load for cyclical applications and accuracies of about
1% FS.
Simply use a steel cylinder which is sufficiently parallel on both ends.
Apply the GE1029 strain sensor.
And the compression load cell is ready.
Ask us for further information in case you want to build such a load cell.
The sample below shows the calibration of strain sensors on a mechanical
manufacturing press.
